Sport is an important part of Swanbourne school life and there are many opportunities. Boys play rugby, soccer, cricket and some hockey, girls play netball, hockey and rounders: athletics is also a major summer sport. Year-round tennis coaching is available for children from the age of five years and our new indoor swimming pool has made a terrific impact, with some of our pupils progressing beyond our own swim squad to county and national events. Squash, dance, table tennis, basketball and cross-country are also offered. The Swanbourne Chase is held annually with teams from at least thirteen schools competing for the trophies. From age 8+ every Swanbourne pupil is involved in this event as a runner, marshal or guide. Coaching is also offered for golf, judo, ballet, clay pigeon and horse riding.

Our teams are competitive, and chosen by ability, once the pupils are past the first two years (seven and eight year olds). Good quality coaches are provided for pupils of all abilities and there are opportunities for individual sports like sailing, shooting and golf, as well as team sports. Swimming and athletics are taught in co-educational groups. Sports Day is a huge event and is run like a professional Athletics Meeting. We make good use of our astro turf and have more individual coaching for tennis than any school in the County. Additionally, we have our own six-hole golf course and a squash court.
