Choosing the right school is a very important decision for families and a private visit to Swanbourne House is highly recommended. We are keen to identify pupils who will benefit from our educational approach and ethos, and make a positive contribution towards school life.
Registration
Prospective pupils may be registered for admission at any time after birth. You must complete a registration form and pay our non-refundable registration fee. We accept children into Pre-Reception from their third birthday and pupils may join the school in any year group and in any term providing there is a space available and they meet our admissions criteria.
For entry into Pre-Reception and Reception, we look for the ability to socialise well with other pupils and participate effectively in the classroom and informal play. For entry into the Lower School (Year 1 – Year 4), the Middle School and the Upper School, prospective pupils are invited to attend a Familiarisation and Assessment Day as part of the admissions process. In Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2), teachers will look at the ability to access the curriculum in areas such as spelling, reading and Maths. All other pupils (Year 3 – Year 8) sit papers in English and Maths, which are designed for their age group, and they have a friendly interview with a Member of the Senior Leadership Team. Children looking to enter Year 3 and above are invited to experience a night in our warm and homely boarding house.
Accepting a place
Subject to a satisfactory assessment and reference from your child’s present school, your child will be offered a place and we will provide you with a copy of our Terms & Conditions. Receipt of a completed acceptance form and deposit is required within a two week period to secure the place.
In the term prior to entry you will be sent further information including term dates, current fees schedule, new pupil handbook and uniform list. For September entries, prospective families will be invited to a New Parents’ Information Morning and prospective pupils will be invited to a Moving Up Day in the preceding Summer Term.
Transport
Our day pupils come to us from a wide surrounding area and we currently offer a school transport provision to collect children in the morning from the Woburn Sands and Milton Keynes areas.

Stowe School Fee Reduction
Swanbourne House School pupils who join Stowe from September 2021 onwards will received a 10% reduction on their Boarding fee.
Also, the introductory fee for Day children at Stowe (which will come to an end in 2023/24 for those not in the Stowe Group) will continue to be applied to Swanbourne children who join Stowe from 2021 onwards. The 5% reduction of the Day fee will be applied throughout their time at Stowe, as will the Boarding fee remission.
