Letter to Prime Minister

Letters to the Prime Minister

Ahead of World Oceans Day in June, Year 2 pupils have been taking time to think carefully about how we can all play a part in protecting our oceans. Through class discussions and activities, they explored the importance of marine environments and the impact that human actions can have on ocean life.

After identifying a range of ways we can help to reduce pollution, from cutting down the use of single-use plastics to making more environmentally conscious choices in our daily lives, pupils were eager to take their learning a step further. Demonstrating both initiative and a strong sense of responsibility, they put their ideas into action by writing thoughtful and persuasive letters to the Prime Minister, sharing their concerns and suggesting ways to help protect our seas.

The letters reflected not only their growing understanding of environmental issues but also their confidence in expressing their views and advocating for change. Pupils showed great care in explaining why ocean conservation matters and how even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

This project has provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to engage with global issues in a meaningful and age-appropriate way, helping them to see that their voices matter. It has also encouraged them to develop important skills in communication, critical thinking, and citizenship.

Wildlife & Ecology Club

Wildlife & Ecology Club

As we celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, we’re reminded of the incredible power of curiosity, that instinct to explore, to question, and to look a little closer at the world around us. His lifelong dedication to discovering and sharing the wonders of our planet continues to inspire generations to care about nature and all living things.

Inspired by this spirit of exploration, our Wildlife & Ecology Club have been embracing their own sense of curiosity by heading outdoors in search of minibeasts. Carefully turning over logs to examining leaves and soil, pupils have been discovering the hidden world beneath their feet, uncovering a variety of insects and small creatures that play such an important role in our ecosystems.

Through these hands-on experiences, pupils are not only learning about habitats and biodiversity, but also developing a deeper appreciation for the natural world. They have shown great enthusiasm, patience, and respect for the environment as they observe, identify, and discuss their findings together.

Moments like these help to nurture a lifelong interest in science and the outdoors, and at Swanbourne we encourage pupils to ask questions, make connections, and develop a sense of responsibility for protecting the world they are exploring.

Encouraging curiosity today, inspiring the explorers and environmental stewards of tomorrow.

Our Reception pupils have impressed us with their entries for the Colour Collage House Competition. They worked hard on their masterpieces over the holidays, and here are just a few of the brilliant results!

It was so tough to choose the winners because every single creation was amazing! All who entered earned 1 House Point, and the winners received 5 House Points each.

Medical Detection dog visit

Meeting a Medical Detection dog

As part of their exciting topic on Superheroes, Year 1 were thrilled to welcome a very special visitor, Bobbin, from Medical Detection Dogs in Buckinghamshire.

The children enjoyed a fascinating talk about the incredible work these dogs do to help people with different medical conditions.

Meeting Bobbin was a highlight, and the children learned that not all superheroes wear capes!

Reception pupils at play

Reception pupils at play

We dropped in to Manor House to see how the classes were getting on in the new term. Judging by the laughter, the children were throughly enjoying their break between lessons. From the dinosaur table to the Lego station, the bookshelf to the cosy den, our Reception pupils always have plenty to do when learning through play.

With toys, games, activities and friends, there’s always something exciting to explore.
