BLOG - Staying Safe Online #4

Welcome to our 4th Staying Safe Online Blog. In this edition we’re talking about the Family Video Game Database and Parental Controls.

Family Video Game Database

You are probably thinking why is this part of an online safety blog at school? Is the school encouraging our young children to play games? Quite the opposite…..

This database is a unique way to find games for children, teenagers and young adults. Every game is presented for parents and carers to understand, to empower informed choice through understanding what the game is about.  Each game listed identifies the PEGI rating and what is safe and healthy online gaming. It also gives guidance during these unprecedented times, together with a huge database games to search for in different topics.

Parental Controls

One of the questions that we often get asked is “How do we set parental controls effectively on our children’s devices?” Many parents are put off using controls and settings as they think it will be difficult to set up, or complicated to use.

Our friends at internet.matters.org have put together some step by steps guides that are simple and straightforward to use.
