Anglian Water workshop

Last week, pupils were treated to an educational visit from Anglian Water as part of their Microbes and Classification topic.

Caroline, from Anglian Water, gave each class a hands-on workshop that delved into our sewage pipes, looking at what we should and should not flush down the toilet or put down our sink! Pupils were amazed to find out that ‘flushable’ wipes actually contain microplastics, and that Christmas is the worst time of year for ‘fatbergs’ to clog the system.

One of the activities, Sewage Soup, showed pupils what can happen when too many items end up down the drain – a smelly and unforgettable experience for all involved!
