Boarding Blog #4: Michaelmas Term Wrap Up

A Message from the Houseparents

It has been a fun-filled Michaelmas Term in the Boarding House, and we have welcomed many new faces, as well as the return of some of our more experienced Boarders.

Lots of families visited the Boarding House at the ‘Meet the Team’ evening and were able to see the fantastic renovations. Renovations have taken place in the Lounge, Wellness Hub, Girls’ Snug and some of the bedrooms. There are currently plans in place for Phase two of the renovations, so stay tuned for more information. These renovations have made a marked improvement in the provisions of the Boarding House and the Pool Table/ Games area seem to be a hit with our Boarders. In addition to the renovations, there has been a renewed activities timetable with the inclusion of themed nights, Camp night, Adventure Golf and Ice Skating. Particular favourites of the pupils (and ourselves) were Ninja Warrior and sledging at the SnowZone.

At the beginning of the Michaelmas Term, four Boarding Prefects were appointed and have been working hard within the Boarding House. A big well done to Thomas, Camilla, Nathan and Solomon. Their roles in the Boarding House range from supporting the integration of younger pupils, instilling positive routines/behaviour and being involved with the organisation of Pupil Voice, which takes place every Tuesday with Miss Blane. Pupil voice is a Boarders led discussion, where Full, Weekly & Flexi Boarders have an opportunity to comment on anything they would like to introduce, change or raise in the Boarding House.

We would like to say a big thank you to Connect, Maintenance and Housekeeping for their wonderful work in the day to day running of the Boarding House. As well as Miss Blane (Assistant Houseparent), the Gap students & our Residential Tutors. Sadly, we say farewell to some members of our boarding family. The pupils returning back to Spain after a term at SHS are Toni, Marta, Ana and Jaime. Also, we say goodbye to Miss Fielder, Miss Mornement and Miss Flynn-Jones – We wish you all the very best of luck in your future endeavours.

We hope you have had a lovely start to the New Year. Check out the gallery below to see some of the exciting things that have taken place last term!
