We Really Learned How to Fly … High … FAME!

On Friday and Saturday SHS pupils from the 10s to the TY staged three performances of the 80s hit musical ‘FAME’.

From the lead parts to the dancers to the backstage crew to the hair and make-up team, the children worked with commitment and enthusiasm to give another very enjoyable and impressive performance.

The scale and complexity of the professional stage set amazed and inspired the children as they came in for our technical rehearsal. For children of their age, the opportunity to work on scenery of this standard as well as use high quality light and sound equipment is a very special one.

Congratulations to all the children for their hard work. One of the best things about ‘Fame’ for me is that it has no star. A string of sub plots run through the show, allowing a number of children their opportunity to shine.

To reach the standard that they did amidst probably the most difficult and unpredictable school year they have ever experienced was a real triumph. I am not ashamed to admit that their final performance made me cry – in the best of ways! Here’s to next year.
