Swanbourne House Nursery is where the youngest of our children are nurtured and introduced to the important world of learning in a happy, caring and supportive environment. We believe that through play and a balance of structured activities, children can practise skills and come to understand and make sense of the world around them. We seek to give our children the very best, creating a unique place where play is valued and where they have fun and learn through exciting, challenging experiences that are carefully planned by our Nursery team to establish your child’s next steps.
We accept children into the Nursery in the term in which they turn three. Children in the Nursery are cared for by the Head of Nursery and Nursery assistants. There are three classes in the Nursery: White Swans, Black Swans and Grey Swans. Our emphasis is on learning through play and each week we plan a range of purposeful and progressive activities for the children to enjoy. These activities are based on the seven areas of learning set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Each day every child has the opportunity to join in adult-led activities taken from one area of this curriculum. In addition to small group work, the children take part in whole class sessions such as Story Time, Phonics, Maths and Circle Time. Every child is treated as an individual and we do our best to cater for each of their needs. By the time our children start the 4s they are well prepared in pre-reading, writing, number and ICT skills.
We take children from the term in which they turn three. If you are looking for childcare for younger children, we have provision at Home Farm Day Nursery. For further details please telephone 01296 720835, email or visit their website.
Nursery Stay and Play Sessions
We hold Stay and Play sessions throughout the year for parents who are thinking about enrolling their child in the Nursery. These sessions give you and your child the chance to familiarise yourselves with the Nursery and to meet your child’s future friends and teachers. Your child will join in with other children in the Nursery, be that playing outside in the courtyard, watching the rabbits, drawing or dressing up, the choice is theirs. Friends and grandparents are most welcome to come along too. The Registrar, Mrs Pratten, will be available should you have any further questions and will be more than happy to give you a tour of the Prep school afterwards if you would like.
If you would like to visit the Nursery you can book an appointment here or email our Registrar Mrs G Pratten who will be pleased to make an appointment for you. The dates for our next Stay and Play sessions for prospective parents are Thursday 19th October and Thursday 30th November. Current parents are welcome to a Stay and Play on Thursday 28th September.
If you would like to attend, please fill out the following form or telephone Mrs Pratten on 01296 720264. We look forward to welcoming you and your little ones.
